MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Jan. 14, 2012) Capt. Erik Ross, foreground, USS Bataan commanding officer, greets French military representatives and U.S. Embassy, Paris representatives shortly after they landed aboard USS Bataan, Jan. 14, 2012. Twelve French military representatives flew to USS Bataan to learn about and inspect MV-22 Ospreys, with Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), to ensure the Osprey could be cross-decked to French ships in future operations. The Marines and sailors of the 22nd MEU are currently deployed with Amphibious Squadron 6 aboard the USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group. The 22nd MEU is a multi-mission, capable force, comprised of an Aviation Combat Element, Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced); a Logistics Combat Element, Combat Logistics Battalion 22; a Ground Combat Element, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment; and its Command Element.
