U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Manuel Estrada/Released 130729-M-MX805-232.JPG
Aug 2, 2013
Combat Logistics Battalion 22, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit Marines practice procedures required to safely exit a helicopter in a modular amphibious egress trainer at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 29, 2013. The MAET, known as the “helo dunker,” has every type of door used in a Marine Corps or Navy helicopter and submerges and rotates to mimic the actions a Marine would experience during a helicopter water landing. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
