U.S. Marines with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) force reconnaissance platoon clear a house at Fort Pickett, Va., Sept. 2, 2013. Force reconnaissance platoon performed a night raid as part of the MEU’s Realistic Urban Training exercise. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibilities with the Bataan Amphibious Ready group as a sea base, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious operations across a full range of military operations.
