U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Manuel A. Estrada/Released 131121-M-MX805-154.JPG
Nov 27, 2013
U.S. Marines with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) practice safely evacuating a simulated aircraft in a modular amphibious egress trainer (MAET) at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Nov. 21, 2013. The MAET, commonly known as the “helo dunker,” has U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy aircraft windows and doors to show Marines and Sailors how to safely exit an aircraft in the event of an underwater evacuation. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
