CAMP BEUHRING, Kuwait (April 19, 2019) – U.S. Marine Gunnery Sgt. Malachi Even, the platoon sergeant for Maritime Raid Force’s 1st platoon with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, jumps out of an MV-22 Osprey as part of freefall jump training during Marine Expeditionary Unit Exercise. The training increases parachuting and jumpmaster proficiency, and ensures the Marines maintain combat readiness. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
