080912-M-3035F-002 The shouts from the Marines and sailors of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit slice through the morning fog during a unit run aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Sept. 12, 2008. More than 1,200 Marines and sailors participated in the massive, three-mile formation run. The run was the first event of a six-month training period and subsequent six-month deployment. According to 22nd MEU Commanding Officer, Col. Gary Brandl, the run was significant because the unit will begin and end its time together as one team with one fight.
