Playing the Marine's Hymn, the Emerald Society Bag Pipe Band closes the 233rd birthday celebration for the New York Police Department Marine Corps Association Nov. 7, 2008, at 1 Police Plaza in New York. The NYPD Marine Corps Association was formed in 1993 so former Marines with NYPD could continue to support the Marine Corps and share their camaraderie. Marines from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit were in New York to provide support for Veterans Day and the re-opening of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
