Colonel Eric J. Steidl, rear, the commanding officer of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and Denver native, prepares to conduct the buddy drag with Maj. Trevor Hall, the operations officer and Jefferson, Ga., native, during the maneuver under fire portion of the Combat Fitness Test aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 16, 2010. The CFT incorporates two other physical elements, movement to contact, an 880-yard sprint, and the ammo lift, designed to simulate situations Marines may face in combat. The MEU hosted the Combat Fitness Test as part of the Marine Corps' annual training requirement for individual Marines. This marks the second year the MEU participated in the CFT after Headquarters Marine Corps implemented it as an annual training requirement for every Marine.
