Staff Sergeant Gary Beals, left, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense instructor and Metaric, La., native with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, teaches the complexities of nerve agents during a CBRN class aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 25, 2010. The MEU underwent annual CBRN training which culminated in familiarization with the newly issued M-50 gas mask. The MEU was the first major subordinate command in the Marine Corps on the east coast to receive the new M-50 gas mask for training. The annual training is designed to instill confidence in the mask and ensure the Marines know the proper procedures in the event of a CBRN attack.
