Lieutenant General Dennis J. Hejlik, commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, salutes sideboys comprised of Marines and sailors, as he departs USS Bataan, currently docked at Naval Station Norfolk, Va., Sept. 23, 2010. Hejlik visited the ship to attend a meeting with the command and staff of USS Bataan, Amphibious Squadron 6, Expeditionary Strike Group 2 and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, to discuss future Marine Corps and Navy engagements affecting the commands. The MEU staff visited USS Bataan to facilitate appropriate interaction between the MEU's Command Element and Bataan Amphibious Ready Group ships' staffs prior to the pre-deployment training program and survey the spaces that will be occupied by MEU personnel during their upcoming deployment.
