Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Micheal P. Barrett, speaks with Marines and Sailors assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) aboard multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). Barrett and Gen. James F. Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, visited Marines to wish them a belated happy birthday and Thanksgiving, and to discuss the future of the Marine Corps while commending them on their efforts abroad. The 22nd MEU is deployed as part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (BATARG) as the U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
