MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit recently honored their family readiness volunteers with a volunteer appreciation dinner aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C. April 24, 2012.
Lt. Col. Jonathan Langlois, Executive Officer of the 22nd MEU, thanked the volunteers for their continued efforts to keep the MEU families informed and ready.
“Tonight is our thanks to you,” said Langlois. “The MEU is working at varsity level, and the reason we’re able to do that is because of the likes of you.”
For their continued efforts, the volunteers received certificates of appreciation from the MEU and gifts from Rachel Christmas, command team advisor for the MEU.
“I am very grateful for this group,” said Christmas. “We’re going in the right direction, we have a good time, and you are my favorite group to be with.”
Volunteers enjoyed the command’s recognition for their efforts to keep the 22nd MEU families and friends active and supportive of the mission.
“The command really cares about the families and what’s going on with the volunteers, so it’s really cool to have this,” said Erin Dunlap, a family readiness volunteer. “It’s a really fun program. You get to meet people, go out and do fun things with the unit, and family oriented things that anybody can participate in.”
